Maklavan is one of the cities of Gilan Province, a part of Sardar Jangal District, Fouman County, on the road from Fouman to Masouleh. Maklavan is 35 km from Rasht, 10 km from Fouman, and 20 km from the historical city of Masouleh. Considering the growing population of the city, changes in the physical structure and organization of Maklavan, and the increase in the amount of traffic on the route. From Fouman to Masouleh, the widening of the mentioned route to 22 meters wide has been put on the agenda by the Maklavan Municipality. Parallel to the route from Fouman to Masouleh, there is the Masouleh Rudkhan River, on which several bridges have been built. The existing Maklavan Bridge is located at geographical coordinates 4117203N and 338708E above the Masouleh Rud River before Maklavan. This bridge has a capacity of one lane and has four 15-meter spans.
The existing bridge has limited width and is not able to handle current and future traffic volumes. The project aims to increase the capacity and improve the safety and operational quality of a section of the river.
